Applications
High-speed doors for your sector
The right high-speed door depends first on the sector: cycle rate in logistics, insulation in cold storage, tightness in cleanrooms, quiet running in car parks. Here you will find the door types and equipment that suit your application.
Applications in detail
High-speed doors for logistics and warehousing
A high-speed door for warehouses and logistics is a power-operated industrial door at internal transfer points, storage zones and access routes that lets forklifts, tugger trains and AGVs pass without waiting. It opens at around 1.5 to 3 m/s and closes immediately after each passage.
View application →High-speed doors for the food industry
A food industry high-speed door is an industrial door of hygienic design that separates hygiene and temperature zones with short open times and can be cleaned residue-free with foam and water, from meat processing to beverage bottling.
View application →High-speed doors for pharma and cleanrooms
A cleanroom door is a high-speed door that separates cleanroom zones with short open times, a tight curtain and smooth, low-particle surfaces, keeping the pressure cascade and cleanroom class stable in the pharmaceutical industry, in laboratories and in healthcare.
View application →High-speed doors for cold storage and freezer stores
A cold storage door is a door at the boundary between the temperature zones of a cold store or freezer store that limits cold loss, moisture ingress and ice formation during each passage. In daily operation, this job is usually done by insulated high-speed doors, heated in sub-zero areas.
View application →High-speed doors for industry and manufacturing
An industrial high-speed door for manufacturing is a power-operated door with an opening speed of around 1.5 to 3 m/s that separates production, storage and dispatch without slowing material flow. The short open time keeps heat, dust and noise in their respective zones.
View application →High-speed doors for car parks
A high speed car park door is a power-operated entrance door – usually a quiet spiral or slatted door – that opens far faster than a conventional roller shutter. It cuts waiting times at the entrance, keeps unauthorised users out and spares the neighbours noise.
View application →High-speed doors for loading bays and access points
A loading bay or access door in high speed design forms the boundary between building and weather at docks, access roads, vehicle halls and wash bays: it must withstand wind and weather, yet open and close in seconds so that heat, spray and draughts do not escape.
View application →High-speed doors for the automotive industry
In the automotive industry, a high-speed door is part of the production cycle: it opens in seconds at transitions between body shop, paint shop, assembly and logistics, separates dust and climate zones and keeps material flowing at very high cycle rates.
View application →High-speed doors for vehicle wash facilities
A vehicle wash door is a high-speed door with a corrosion-resistant frame, a chemical-resistant curtain and protected electrics. It clears the entry and exit in seconds and keeps spray mist, heat and noise inside the wash hall.
View application →High-speed doors for airports and secure areas
A high-speed door in an airport or secure area is a power-operated door that opens only on release at baggage handling systems, cargo halls and controlled access points and closes again immediately. It supports the security concept but does not replace a burglar-resistant closure.
View application →Which door type suits which sector?
The sector determines what matters at the door opening: in logistics, the cycle rate; in cold storage, insulation and freedom from icing; in cleanrooms, tightness and ease of cleaning; in car parks, quiet running and access control. The table shows which door types have proven themselves in each field and the typical sizes.
| Application | Suitable door types | Typical sizes |
|---|---|---|
| Logistics and warehousing | PVC high-speed door, clear curtain door, indoor high-speed door, outdoor high-speed door | 3,000 × 3,500 mm to 5,000 × 5,000 mm |
| Food industry | PVC high-speed door, indoor high-speed door, freezer door, outdoor high-speed door | 2,500 × 3,000 mm to 4,000 × 4,000 mm |
| Pharma and cleanrooms | Indoor high-speed door, PVC high-speed door, freezer door | 2,000 × 2,500 mm to 3,500 × 3,500 mm |
| Cold storage and freezer rooms | Freezer door, PVC high-speed door, indoor high-speed door, insulated high-speed door | 2,500 × 3,000 mm to 4,000 × 4,500 mm |
| Manufacturing and industry | Indoor high-speed door, PVC high-speed door, spiral door, outdoor high-speed door | 3,000 × 3,500 mm to 5,000 × 5,000 mm |
| Car parks | Spiral door, high-speed roller shutter, outdoor high-speed door | approx. 3,000 × 2,200 mm (single lane) to 5,500 × 3,000 mm (two lanes) |
| Loading bays and outdoor access | Outdoor high-speed door, spiral door, high-speed roller shutter, insulated high-speed door, fold-up door | 3,000 × 3,000 mm to 5,000 × 5,000 mm |
| Automotive industry | Indoor high-speed door, clear curtain door, PVC high-speed door, spiral door | 3,000 × 3,500 mm to 5,000 × 5,000 mm |
| Vehicle wash bays | Outdoor high-speed door, spiral door, high-speed roller shutter, PVC high-speed door | 3,000 × 3,000 mm (cars) to 5,000 × 5,000 mm (lorries and buses) |
| Airports and secure areas | Outdoor high-speed door, spiral door, fold-up door, indoor high-speed door | under 2,000 × 2,000 mm (conveyor opening) to 5,000 × 5,000 mm (cargo hall, access) |
Further applications
High-speed doors also prove their worth outside the classic sectors. In vehicle wash bays they keep spray water and steam inside, in agricultural buildings they separate livestock and storage areas, and at underground car parks they control access quickly and quietly. For potentially explosive atmospheres, the design must comply with the ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU – please state this in your enquiry so that it can be taken into account. On conveyor lines, the door and the conveyor system are matched to each other, for example at small conveyor openings in airports and secure areas.
Regardless of the sector, selection follows the same questions: how often is the door passed, what temperatures and pressure conditions prevail on both sides, which vehicles pass through, and which hygiene or safety requirements apply? In the configurator you turn the answers directly into a door; the overview of high-speed doors explains the differences between the designs.
